Submitted by bosconrd on May 11, 2017 BOSCO, Bangalore organized a Sumer Camp for the children of BOSCO Rainbow Home and BOSCO Vatsalya Bhavan at Don Bosco KGF from April 19, 2017 to May 8, 2017. Sessions of first four days were facilitated by ‘Dream a Dream’ team, Bangalore. The topics, understand oneself, learn from each other and build leadership in the community, were explored through interactive, brainstorming activities.
Sport day, one of the major events of the camp was inaugurated by Fr. Joseph Elevanal SDB, Rector, Don Bosco, KGF. Inaugurating the sports meet he said that team spirit and sportsmanship are essential for success in life. Children visited Kotilingeshwera temple, a famous pilgrim centre near KGF.
Sessions on personality development, life skills, POCSO Act 2012, role plays on child marriage, child abuse and other social issues, an exhibition to show case the children’s talents, timely evaluations, language skills, youth parliament, cooking and classes on health and hygiene were highlights of the camp.
Resource persons of the camp were, Shivamallu, Coordinator, Foster Care Program, BOSCO, Bangalore, Sr. Jacintha, Member, CWC, Bangalore, Jimmy M. Cherian, President, Creative Futures, Bangalore, Fr. Prasad SDB, Director, BOSCO, Sumanahalli, Bangalore and Sandhya, Bangalore. Salesian Clerics, David, Austin, Nobel and Abhilash, Mary Shamala, Counsellor, Rainbow Home, Ajantha and Jyothi, Coordinators, Vatsalya Bhavan were present for the camp.
