Training for Anganwadi Teachers on Foster careSubmitted by bosconrd on Jan 05, 2018 Foster Care Program, BOSCO, Bangalore, organized Anganwadi Teachers’ Training at Ramanagar Health Centre, Belgavi, Karnataka, on December 26, 2017. Initiating the discussion, Shivanand, Social Mobilizer, Foster Care, shared about BOSCO and its intervention for the welfare of children. He further explained about the importance of foster parenting, child rights and application of child rights in the context of foster care.
Anganwadi Teachers were made aware of the concept of foster care, need for foster care, importance of family care for children and impact of institutional care on children, legal support for foster care, different types of foster care placements, such as Kinship Placement, Individual Placement and Group Foster Care, time frame for placements(short term, long term foster care), difference between foster care & adoption, eligibility to become a foster parent, procedures involved in foster parenting, required documents, etc. during the training. Forty Anganwadi Teachers attended the training.
