Formation of Child Protection CommitteeSubmitted by bosconrd on Feb 01, 2018 CREAM, BOSCO, Bangalore, organized a meeting for the railway officials, GRP and RPF and other stakeholders at Yelahanka Railway Station on January 27, 2018. The meeting was held with the objective of forming Child Protection Committee and ensuring child protection mechanism under JJ Act and Railway Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Addressing the group, Ramaswamy, Coordinator, CREAM, BOSCO Bangalore, shared about vision and mission of BOSCO, the services rendered by BOSCO for the care and protection of children, emergency numbers, links with various Government departments and allied systems. The group was made aware of child rights, importance of child protection committee, implementation of Railway SOP, roles and responsibilities of SMR, GRP, RPF, child protection mechanisms and the role of BOSCO in protection of child rights through a participatory activity.
A. Ramappa, SIPF, RPF, Yelahanka Railway Station, assured to support BOSCO in its activities. He shared an incident where a minor girl was rescued from the platform and handed over to BOSCO for care and protection. Basha SM, CBSR, Commercial, came up with an idea of displaying 1098, the toll-free Helpline number for children in need of care and protection, on the platforms. A copy of the SOP was provided to Srinivas, RPF and Shrikant, CMI/SBC, as per their request. Thirty railway officials, RPF, GRP and Stake holders attended the meeting.
