Foster Care Training for NGOs

Submitted by bosconrd on Mar 10, 2018 Foster Care Project, BOSCO Bangalore, organized training programme for CREAM Coordinators and Social Activists of Ramnagara, Mysore, Chitradurga, Davanagere & Hospet Districts on March 4, 2018 at Chitra Don Bosco Center, Chitradurga. The training started with the Inauguration by Fr. Joy, Executive Director, BREADS, Fr. Julian, Don Bosco Chitradurga, Fr. Pinto, Ajjinahalli Don Bosco, Ramnagara and Fr. Vergis Pallipuram, Director, Don Bosco, Chitradurga. Suresh Mahadevappa spoke about Activism, Methodology and Advocacy. Sr. Dulcine Crasta, spoke about the importance of documentation. Fr. Joy briefed about the Foster Care Concept.

Jyothi, Counselor, BOSCO Foster Core Program, gave information on BOSCO and its activities, Child Rights and Child Protection Mechanisms and Emergency helpline – CHILDLINE 1098. She explained about the concept of foster care, the difference between foster care and adoption, eligibility of foster parents, different types of placements (individual and group placements), age group of children, time frame for placements and basic understanding of foster parenting skills. The facilitator also provided detailed information about the documents required, legal procedures, time frame for the placement of the child and about competent authorities involved in placement. Thirty-one CREAM coordinators and social activists attended the training.
