Task Force MeetingSubmitted by bosconrd on May 03, 2018 Half-day Task Force Meeting was organized by Foster Care Team, BOSCO, Bangalore, for the various stakeholders involved in the program at BOSCO Mane, Bangalore on April 24, 2018. Shivamallu, Coordinator, Foster Care Program, BOSCO Bangalore, welcomed all the participants, introduced the purpose of the meeting and responsibilities of the task force members.
Fr. Prasad, SDB, Director, BOSCO CHILDLINE, in his key note address, said that every child longs for the care and love of the family and in absence of the child’s own family, foster care is the next best alternative. Fr. Binny K, Director, BOSCO Mane, said that the focus should be towards the best interests of the child and it is also important to know the intentions of the foster parents before placing the child with them.
Jyothi, Counsellor, Foster Care Program, BOSCO Bangalore, briefed about BOSCO and its activities, need for foster care, importance of family Care for the child, legal procedures involved, understanding the difference between Adoption and Foster Care, different types of Foster Care Placements, time frame for placements, procedures involved in becoming foster parents, roles of authorities such as CWC members, DCPUs and other Govt. officials and other stakeholders.
Karakurappa, Probation Officer (PO), Government Children’s Home for Boys, Bangalore, felt that Foster Care is a good project and that Government should take a lead role in the implementation of Foster Care program. Twenty members from various departments such as POs from Govt. Children’s Home for Boys, ASHA Workers, Community Leaders, and Volunteers participated in the program.
