World Day against Child Labour ObservedSubmitted by bosconrd on Jun 13, 2018 BOSCO, an NGO working with child labourers and children in distress observed ‘World Day against Child Labour’, in Bangalore, on the theme “Abolish Child Labor and Save Childhood” on June 12, 2018.
The campaign was inaugurated at 9.30 am in the presence of Jagadeesh M, President, Jaya Karnataka, Bapujinagar, Bangalore, Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO Bangalore and Fr. Prasad SDB, Director, BOSCO CHILDLINE, Bangalore at Bapujinagar, Bangalore. The Campaign in Bangalore Railway Station was inaugurated by Mr. Iqbal Ahmed, Dy. Station Manager, Bangalore Railway Station, Mr. Laxmiprashanth, APSA, Bangalore, Fr. John MA, Administrator, BOSCO Bangalore, Fr. Regi Jacob, Director, BOSCO Nilaya and Fr. Rubin, Director, BOSCO Yuvodaya.
Children from the various centres of BOSCO performed a ‘Mime’ to create awareness to the public about Child Labor in Bangalore at City Railway Station, BMTC Bus Stand, Majestic, Bapujinagar, Kengeri Bus Stand, Pantharapalya, Vijayanagar, KP Agrahara, JJR Nagar, KR Market and Kalasipalya areas of Bangalore. The public were made aware of their responsibility to send children to school instead of pushing them into child labour. The message was disseminated through distribution of pamphlets, shouting slogans and exhibiting placards. Over two thousand people were reached out to in various parts of the city.
