Training for Railway PoliceSubmitted by bosconrd on Aug 04, 2018 Railway CHILDLINE, BOSCO, Bangalore organized training programme on “Confronting Child Trafficking”, for GRP personnel across Karnataka, at KSR railway station on July 27, 2018. in view of the International Anti Human Trafficking day July 30. Inaugurating the training programme, Srinivasa Reddy, DYSP, GRP, KSR, Bangalore, spoke about the importance of protecting the children who come in contact with the railways. Arunmozi, Senior Programme Coordinator, Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiative (APPI), Bangalore, spoke about the role of CHILDLINE supported by APPI in protecting the rights of children. Mahesh Jakathi, CIF, Bangalore, spoke on the SOP for Railways to ensure care and protection of children in contact with Railways, vulnerability issues of children and the functions of CWC and JJB as per JJ Act.
William Christopher and Acca Varghese, IJM, Bangalore facilitated sessions on trafficking, the process of trafficking and the actions to be taken against traffickers and employers. He also explained about the kinds of exploitatsion trafficked children experience. Police officers interacted and expressed the views on trafficking and the kind of support that would be given in handling such cases. Thirty-seven GRP officers from seventeen GRP stations in Karnataka participated in the training.
