Support and Protect the Pillars of the Nation

Submitted by bosconrd on Sep 11, 2018 On the occasion of YaR (Young at Risk) day - an initiative of Don Bosco YaR Network, BOSCO Nivas, BOSCO Sumanahalli, BOSCO Mane, BOSCO Yuvakendra, BOSCO Rainbow Home, BOSCO Nilaya and BOSCO Vikas, organised sessions on ‘protecting children from violence’ for the staff and children of the respective centres and working areas, on August 31, 2018. Children and youth were made aware of child rights and asked to share the various issues they face at schools, homes, and other institutions. They were made aware of different types of violence meted out to children; an explanation was given about physical, sexual and emotional violence. They were given orientation about child help line 1098.
A short Kannada video clip named ‘’Hale paper’’ about child labour was screened. Children were empowered through the activities and also gathered knowledge about the institutes protecting children from violence. They were instructed to shun violence against each other and co-exist symbiotically. On the day, everyone took a pledge on non-violence. Twenty-two youth, hundred and thirty two children and twenty-five staff participated in the program.
