Open House Programme at ArehalliSubmitted by bosconrd on Oct 01, 2018 CHILDLINE, BOSCO Bengaluru, organized an open house Programme at Nirdishta Vargagala Sarkari Vasati Shale, Arehalli Bengaluru, on September 25, 2018. Fr. Prasad SDB, Director, CHILDLINE, BOSCO, Bengaluru in his keynote address spoke about the goals and objectives of the helpline and the purpose of the open house Programme. He spoke regarding Online safety and mentioned that in recent days children are being increasingly victimized because of the proliferation of New Media. He exhorted the participants to use the media discretely.
Mr. Madhu K, Sub Inspector, Subrahmanyapura Police station, said that POCSO Act is applicable to the whole of India and provides protection to children from sexual offences. Providing for a child-friendly judicial process, the Act encourages children who have been victims of sexual abuse to bring their offender to book and seek redressal for their suffering, as well as to obtain assistance in overcoming their trauma, he added.
Children raised some of the issues like children engaging in rag picking, school dropouts’ etc. CHILDLINE assured that the team would identify the issues and resolve them. Ms. Mangamma Member BBMP, Mr. Rangaiah BM, Headmaster Nirdishta Vargada Makkala Vasati Shale, Ms. Ananthalakshmi and Ms. Uma Asst. Teachers of Govt higher primary school, Ms. Usha Nayak Coordinator CHILDLINE, and over Hundred children were present for the Programme.
