BOSCO Nilaya organized a meeting with the stakeholders of Bakshi Garden to form a Child Protection Committee (CPC) on March 15, 2021. Fr. Regi Jacob, Director, BOSCO Nilaya, Bengaluru, spoke about BOSCO, CREAM Project and Nilaya activities. He discussed about the importance of early childhood care and education and the need to motivate children to study in anganwadis. He spoke to the group about child rights, child protection mechanisms, child rights violations and the role of stakeholders. Priya, Coordinator, BOSCO CREAM Project discussed about the issues of children in difficult situations. The participants were given information about CHILDLINE 1098, and the skill training programmes at BOSCO.
Stakeholders requested the team to conduct more awareness programs in the surrounding communities. They acknowledged the improvement in the children attending Nilaya tuitions, karate sessions, and other co-curricular activities. Stakeholders included anganwadi teachers, parents, Child Welfare Police Officer and area leaders of child rights clubs. Ten Stakeholders were incorporated into the CPC.
