Informations from BOSCO

Anand

Anand begging in the Majestic Bus Stand and Railway Station used to be a common sight till one day in 1994, he was picked up by BOSCO. He was brought to BOSCO Yuvodaya located in Gandhinagar, Bengaluru, and given a bath, clean clothes, and food. Fr. Varghese Pallipuram regularly counseled and motivated him to join school. But he was not interested in studies and soon went back to his regular job of begging. As he grew older he also took up coolie work to earn a living. However, he used to visit Yuvodaya regularly to play games, see videos or watch movies with the other boys at the centre. Later he joined the two-wheeler mechanic training. But after some time he discontinued that as well and went back to Gandhinagar, taking up odd jobs. He then got interested in driving, and enrolled himself in a driving school and got a driving license. Now he is a driver by profession and leading an independent life. He says that he could achieve all this only because of the guidance and motivation he got from BOSCO staff, especially Fr. Pallipuram and Sr. Silvy. He is happily married with 2 children. His wife works in a garment factory as a tailor. He says with determination that his children will not undergo the pain and difficulties that he had to face as a child. He aims to give them a bright future and make them engineers or officers.
