CHILD RIGHTS

Promoting child rights permeates every aspect of BOSCO’s work. Child labor is a serious and extensive problem, with many children under the age of 14 working in hazardous situations. BOSCO’s Anti Child Labor initiatives aim at the gradual elimination of child labor and to ensure the change in the mindset of these innocent kids to live normal and dignified lives. Child marriage is another serious problem and BOSCO combats this through the child-led Child Rights Clubs it has started in many schools and communities throughout the poor slum areas of the city. Children become advocates for their own rights and contact CHILDLINE, BOSCO, or other services when they witness or experience child rights violations. Anti- Child Labor Day, Independence Day, Children’s Day, Child Rights Week, Girl Child Day, Young at Risk (YaR) Day, Missing Child Day, Human Rights Day, Shaale Kade Nanna Nade, etc. become occasions and opportunities for BOSCO to campaign for child rights. Networking with Government and other organizations is important for BOSCO as it offers a platform for advocating on behalf of children and youth for better legal systems, policies and schemes.
