Ruben

The story of Ruben is one story of grit and hard work.Ruben does not remember anything about his family. He was rescued from the street by sisters from the congregation of Salesian Missionaries of Mary Immaculate (SMMI). He did his schooling till class 7in the (SMMI) convent school in Hassan. Later, as he expressed his desire to do vocational training, he was given admission in BOSCO Sumanahalli.

After the training he was job placed and worked for 6 months before returning to BOSCO Sumanahalli to prepare for the KOS exams. He wrote his exams and completed his SSLC in 2011. He continued his studies in a regular college and completed his PUC in the year 2013. He joined the Govt. First Grade College in Vijayanagar, and successfully completed B.A in 2016. On completing his studies, he joined as the Store Manager in Track and Trail LIVEN-UP Concept Cycle Store on Malgala Ring Road, Bengaluru, as he had developed an interest in cycling during his daily commute by cycle from Sumanahalli to Magadi Road in his PUC and graduation days.

Achievements

  • Won 4th place for cycling (Bengaluru to Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, 200 kms). He was awarded the Bronze Medal in September 2016.
  • Won 2nd place for cycling (Bengaluru to Vellore, Tamil Nadu, 400 kms). He was awarded the Silver Medal in December 2016.
  • Won 3rd place for cycling (Bangalore to Yercaud and Yelgiri, 600 kms) on May 18, 2017.
  • Won 6th place for cycling (Bangalore to Hassan, 400 kms) on July 22, 2017.

He says, “I want to become an acclaimed cyclist and carve a niche for myself in society.”
