BOSCO Nivas, Sumanahalli, Vatsalya Bhavan and Yuvakendra celebrated Makara Sankranthi on January 14, 2021 at their respective centres. The celebrations started by invoking the Almighty’s blessings through a prayer song. The Directors of the centres spoke about the significance of the festival. Children were told that Sankranti or Pongal heralded the harvesting of crops and the change in the direction of the Sun from one zodiac sign to another. It was also mentioned that though the harvest festival is known by different names in the different regions of our country, the celebration signifies thanks giving to the Almighty for his bounty. Sweets and sugarcane were distributed to the children and youth. Twenty children from BOSCO Nivas, twelve youth from BOSCO Sumanahalli, fifty-five girls from BOSCO Vatsalya Bhavan and twenty-two youth from BOSCO Yuvakendra were part of the celebrations.
