On the occasion of International Day of the Girl Child, BOSCO Vatsalya Bhavan organized cultural programmes, essay writing, drawing and slogan writing competitions for the girls residing in the centre based on the theme, ‘My Voice, Our Equal Future. Save the Girl Child’ on October 11, 2020.
The girls were divided into five groups and given topics based on the theme for presentation and debate. The different teams spoke on the life story of Malala, Onake Obhava, Savithribai Phule, Kiran Majumdar Shaw and Hima Das. Essay writing, drawing, and slogan writing competitions were also held.
On October 12, 2020 during the programme at the centre, Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO Bengaluru, gave a message on the theme and said that every girl should uphold the rights of every other girl. Sr. Sheeba, Director In-charge, BOSCO Vatsalya Bhavan distributed prizes to all the participants. Fifty girls and staff of BOSCO Vatsalya Bhavan participated in the celebrations.
