Community Awareness Programme

 Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU), BOSCO, Bengaluru, organized a community awareness programme at Ramakrishna Ashram Layout, KG Nagar, Bengaluru, on January 22, 2020. During the field visits it was observed that intervention and awareness were necessary. So the awareness programme was organized to sensitize the community about the ill effects of substance abuse and addiction to alcohol.
PN Basavaraju, Coordinator, SJPU, BOSCO, Bengaluru, spoke about child rights, child related issues such as child labour, child marriage, child abuse, children dropping out of school, children in conflict with law, child trafficking, etc. He also spoke about the importance of education and requested the parents to encourage children to go to school. He discussed in details regarding the ill effects of substance and alcohol addiction citing various examples. He briefed about BOSCO and its activities with a special mention about BOSCO skill training courses and asked the youth to make use of the services of BOSCO for counseling and vocational training. Ms. CH Asha, PSI, KG Nagar Police Station and Mr. Sharanabasappa, PSI, KG Nagar Police Station, were present during the awareness. Ninety people including men, women, youth and police personnel participated in the programme.
