BOSCO Bengaluru, organized Children’s Day celebration based on the theme, ‘All Rights to All Children’, at BOSCO Life Skill Training Center, Sumanahalli Bengaluru, on November 17, 2019.
Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO Bengaluru, in his keynote address, said “Let us celebrate childhood and ensure that all children are given their rights. Let them live with joy and happiness”. Shri. V Manohar, Kannada Cine Actor and Music Director, speaking on the occasion exhorted the children to ‘learn through play’. He felt that he could see some actors, singers, musicians, sportspersons, etc. in the making. He appreciated BOSCO for bringing out the hidden talents of children. Shri. G Mohan Kumar, Corporator, BBMP, Kottegepalya lauded BOSCO’s work and ensured his support for the cause of children. Rev. Fr. Valentin Anthony, Director, Sumanahalli Society, Bengaluru, briefed about the various rights of the children necessary for their holistic development. Ms. Rakshita, Child Representative, and Ms. Bharathi D, Sub Inspector, GRP, KSR Railway Station, and Makkala Mitra Awardee spoke on the occasion.
Makkala Mitra Award was given to four stakeholders who played key roles in the protection and promotion of child rights at the centers and areas of its service. Four children who excelled in cultural, social, sports and educational fields were awarded with the Prathibha Puraskara Award. Chance games and theme based cultural programmes were organized on the occasion. Ms. Geetamala, Counselor, BOSCO Yuvakendra welcomed the gathering and Fr. Prasad SDB, Director, BOSCO CHILDLINE and Sumanahalli proposed the vote of thanks. Around five hundred children from the various centres of BOSCO and localities of service participated in the event.
