Training on Counseling Organized

BOSCO, Bengaluru organized one day training on Basic Counseling for the staff involved in counseling children, at BOSCO Mane on October 24, 2019. The resource person, Ashwini NV, Founder and Director, Muktha Foundation, Bengaluru, in the interactive session, briefed about basic counseling skills, prevention of sexual abuse at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels, possible warning signs of child abuse. She explained in detail about the different types of child sexual abuse, models of defining abuse, myths pertaining to child sexual abuse, signs that a child may be at risk and the basic points a counselor has to keep in mind while counseling a child. Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO Bengaluru welcomed the gathering and Ms. Mounika, Coordinator, BOSCO Nivas, proposed the vote of thanks. Sixteen staff of BOSCO involved in children attended the training.
