Dasara Camp at BOSCO Nilaya

BOSCO Nilaya organized Dasara Camp for children attending evening tuitions, from October 9 to 11, 2019 at BOSCO Nilaya. Fr. Regi Jacob, Director, BOSCO Nilaya, BOSCO Nivas, HDFC, ECCE, and CREAM Projects, in his keynote address, spoke about Don Bosco and his life, motivated children to make productive use of the camp by active participation. Fr. Varghese Pallipuram, Director, BOSCO Yuvodaya, comparing traffic signals to life, motivated children to learn values of life and have goals.
The children were divided into groups. Fr. Regi conducted an activity oriented session on rights and responsibilities. Mr. Melvyn motivated the children to never give up in life. Fr. Prasad, Director, CHILDLINE and BOSCO Sumanahalli briefed the children on goal setting and aiming high. Children were made to draw the ‘Tree of life’ in which they were asked to reflect on their life, their hopes and dreams. Children enjoyed doing the exercises. Mr. Arul Das, Art and cultural instructor took a session on Theatre activity and script writing. Action songs were taught.
Life skills and their effect on life were shared. Master Vinod Kumar, Master Santhosh and team performed Karate demonstration. Fr. Joshy SDB, Principal, Don Bosco B. Ed College, Yadgiri conducted a craft session on wall hangings and paper designs. Dr. Meghana, Dentist, explained about self-awareness. Ms. Geethamala, CWC Member, explained about CWC and its procedures. Mr. P.N. Basavaraju, Coordinator, SJPU explained the JJ Act, JJ Board, children in conflict with law and various forms of abuse.
During the valedictory function children staged cultural programmes. Ms. Uma, Social worker, St. Martha’s Hospital, Sr. Silvy Lawrence, Director, BOSCO Yuvakendra, Ms. Shabeena, Assistant Coordinator, BOSCO Health department, and Bro. Pawan were present. 137 children from nine Tuition centers participated in the camp.
