World Environment Day was celebrated at BOSCO Sumanahalli on June 5, 2019. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mahantesh Hanji, Senior Assistant Director, Horticulture Watershed Development Department, Bengaluru said “In order to make our planet safer for us and for generations to come, we need to plant more trees and avoid the use of plastic.”
Fr. Prasad, Director, BOSCO Life Skill Training Centre, Sumanahalli, said that small steps taken towards preserving nature and greenery would make a big difference in the longer run. Children recited the World Environment Day anthem and took an oath to preserve the earth. Fifty saplings were planted by the inmates of the centre and children from Devaraj Urs Slum, Sumanahalli.
Ms. Shruthi, Coordinator, BOSCO Sumanahalli welcomed the gathering and Ms. Vinushree, Counsellor, CHILDLINE, proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Silvy Lawrence, Director, BOSCO Yuvakendra, Sr. Selvi, Principal, St. Josephs Higher Primary School, Sumanahalli, project staff and over eighty children participated in the event.
