Training for PRI Leaders

CREAM, BOSCO Bengaluru organized Training for Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI) leaders at Vanakenahalli Grama Panchayat, Kasaba Hobli, Anekal Taluk, Bengaluru Rural, on January 29, 2019. The training started with the briefing about BOSCO and Its activities, CREAM and its aims, activities of CREAM. Mr. Ramaswamy, Coordinator, CREAM Project, explained about the purpose of Grama Sabha, roles and responsibilities of PRI President, Secretary and members. He said that the prevention of child rights violation, implementation of government schemes for children especially with respect to health and education and protection of children are the main roles of PRI members and leaders. He insisted PRI members to monitor teachers to see that they track the progress of each child. List of child related departments and their roles were explained. Definitions, roles and working of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) and Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) were briefed. Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) and PRI President requested BOSCO to organize a training session during Grama Sabha. Nine male and seven female members including PDO and President participated in the training.
