A life skill session on coping with emotions was held at BOSCO Life Skill Training Centre, Sumanahalli, for the youth residing at the center, by Celine, Volunteer, BOSCO Bengaluru, on November 24, 2018. The session began with an interactive discussion on various emotions, their implications, sources, etc. She explained that coping with emotions means recognizing emotions within us and others and being aware of how emotions influence one’s behavior. An activity, “Alternatives to anger” was conducted to come out of intense emotions like anger or sadness or stress. The youth learnt few exercises such as practicing mindfulness, distracting oneself from emotional pain with emotionally healthy alternatives, practicing meditation to effectively cope up with emotional stress, anger, anxiety, etc. Twenty three youth participated in the life skill session.
