BOSCO, Bengaluru, organized Children’s Day at St. Theresa’s School, Chamarajpet, Bengaluru, on November 18, 2018 on the theme “Protect Children from Violence”. In his keynote address, Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO, Bengaluru, said, “You are important. Your dreams are important. Strive to make your dreams a reality.” Wali Pasha, ACP, VV Puram, Bengaluru said, that it is the duty of the civil society to safeguard the rights of children and ensure that they do not fall prey to the evils in the society. Dodda Ganesh, Former Cricketer and TD Raju, Inspector, VV Puram spoke on the occasion.
The Stakeholders who have played key roles in the protection and promotion of child rights at the centers and areas of BOSCO were awarded with Makkala Mitra Award. Children who have excelled in the cultural, social, sports and education fields were awarded with Prathibha Puraskara Award.
An oath to protect and promote child rights was taken by everyone present. CHIDLINE Se Dosti Band was tied on the hands of all the guests as a symbolic gesture of providing care and protection to children. Theme based cultural programmes by children, a musical programme by Nandini and Team, Bengaluru and dance performance by Nursing Students from St. Martha’s Hospital marked the event. Sr. Jessy Merlyn, Provincial Superior, SMMI, Bengaluru, Mr. Edward, Hospitality Manager, Chinnaswamy Stadium and Ms. Silvy, Director, BOSCO Yuvakendra, were present. Around six hundred children from the various centres of BOSCO and localities of service participated in the programme.
