BOSCO Bengaluru organized an NGO Networking Meeting for the Civil Society Organizations at BOSCO Yuvodaya on December 17, 2024. Fr. Varghese Pallipuram, Executive Director, BOSCO Bengaluru spoke about networking and its importance, areas of networking and potential partners, benefits and challenges of networking and how networking could help NGOs in advocacy efforts. Mrs. Ramya, We Live Foundation, focused on After Care and the challenges faced in transitioning youth after 18 years. Mr. Shivamallu, State Coordinator, BOSCO Foster Care explained the foster care system for children in need care and protection, especially those over six years old or separated from their parents for over a year. Mr. John Joshua, Coordinator, BOSCO Home Link, presented an overview of the Homelink DIGI system, its working, mobile app, features, and its importance for NGOs in managing documentation.
Challenges faced by the NGOs regarding receiving funds from the Government, excessive restrictions, rules and demands by the DCPU, difficulty in renewal of CCI registration, lack of proper documentation for children referred by CWC, making it hard to admit children to CCIs, bribe demands during police verification, etc. were discussed. Way forward was put forth based on the suggestions for improving collaboration and coordination. Twenty-four representatives from seventeen NGOs participated in the networking meeting.
