BOSCO Bengaluru organized a capacity building programme for the tuition teachers at BOSCO Yuvodaya on March 15, 2025. It aimed at capacitating the teachers on basic teaching skills. The training began with an introductory session led by Fr. Varghese Pallipuram, Executive Director, BOSCO Bengaluru, who provided an overview of BOSCO and discussed the impact of study centers in the community. Following this, Fr. K.J. Joseph, Director of BOSCO Mane and Vikas, conducted a session on “How to Handle Mathematics Sessions Easily and Effectively.” He introduced various tricks and techniques that can help teachers effectively teach mathematics. The second session was led by Mr. Ramaswamy, Coordinator, Juvenile Advocacy and focused on “Child Rights Clubs (CRC).” He emphasized the importance of children’s participation in these clubs, which not only enhance their extracurricular activities and talents but also educate them about child rights, child abuse, and how to report violations, thereby helping them become responsible citizens. The third session, delivered by Mr. John Joshua, Coordinator, HLK Programme focused on “Documentation.” He explained the importance of documenting children’s details and tracking their educational progress. He introduced a reporting format for collecting information about tuition students, which is later used to update the DIGI tool. He also demonstrated how to use the DIGI tool and encouraged teachers to enter student information themselves. The programme concluded with a general discussion, during which the teachers shared their plans for the next three months, discussed challenges they faced, and shared their experiences. A total of 26 tuition teachers benefited from this training programme.
