International Day of the Girl Child celebrated at BOSCO Bengaluru

BOSCO, Bengaluru, organized a special programme in honour of the International Day of the Girl Child. This event took place at BOSCO Mane in Chamarajpet, Bengaluru, on October 11, 2025, on the theme, “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis,” emphasizing the powerful role girls play in creating positive change.

The celebration started at 10:15 am with a dynamic human chain formation and an awareness campaign, stretching from Karnataka Sanskrit University, Chamarajpet, to BOSCO Mane, Chamarajpet, Bengaluru. Attendees also enjoyed a captivating street play presented by the dedicated staff of BOSCO Bengaluru. Addressing the gathering, the chief guest, Ms. Pramila Joshai, a Renowned Indian Actress, said, “You are buds blooming into flowers. Utilize all the opportunities you get to fulfill your dreams and become successful women in future”. Ms. Katyayini, Professor, KIMS Nursing College, was present on the occasion along with the children representatives Lavanya, Mary and Bhairavi.   The event was officially launched by our esteemed chief guests, who released the Doves.

The closing session at BOSCO Mane saw the cultural performances by the children from various BOSCO centres. Dr. Savitha C., the Medical Superintendent of Vani Vilas Hospital in Bengaluru, regards all girls as superwomen for their ability to multitask and excel beyond men in various aspects of life. Dr. Sr. Prema, the Principal of St. Theresa’s Degree College for Women in Bengaluru, emphasized that education, discipline, time management, faith, and respect for elders are essential keys to success. The keynote address by Fr. Varghese Pallipuram, Executive Director of BOSCO Bengaluru, focused on ensuring girls receive their rightful due. A total of 450 children from various BOSCO centres were present at the event. Around 1,000 college students from Chamarajpet and surrounding areas formed the human chain.
