BOSCO centres celebrated the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, on October 2, 2026, to familiarise children and youth with his values and teachings. The celebrations highlighted Gandhi’s principles of truth, non-violence and simplicity, emphasising their relevance in everyday life. Children also learned about the observance of October 2 as the International Day of Non-Violence by the United Nations and commemorated the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, which falls on the same day.
The celebration helped children and trainees understand the importance of non-violence, self-discipline and responsible living. Through meaningful activities and reflections, they were encouraged to imbibe Gandhian values and put them into practice in their daily lives. Children from all BOSCO centres participated enthusiastically in the celebrations.
