BOSCO outreach team working in the BMTC Bus Stand conducted an awareness campaign for the transgender community to highlight the objectives of the BOSCO helpline and raise awareness about its role in supporting and protecting vulnerable children on August 4, 2025. The session aimed to seek the active support and involvement of the transgender community in ensuring the safety of children in distress.
The CSN Coordinator, Mr. P. N. Basavaraju, opened the session by addressing the rising issues affecting children in and around the bus stand area. He explained how BOSCO provides timely interventions for children in distress, including those who are missing, have run away from home, are involved in child labour, or are forced into begging. He also highlighted the critical role of BOSCO’s Child Assistance Centres located at both BMTC and KSRTC bus stations, describing their operations and collaboration with stakeholders such as drivers, conductors, police personnel, and the general public. The Child Helpline Numbers 1098 and 112 were promoted for immediate reporting and assistance. The session was interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and asking questions. Transgender leader Ms. Bhagya assured that their community would extend continuous support to BOSCO’s initiatives. Awareness was provided to approximately 36 members of their community.
