BOSCO National Essay Competition 2020

BOSCO Bengaluru organized a national level essay competition for college students, spanning from Oc-tober to December 2019. Around 150 colleges/universities from across India were given information regarding the competition. Students from the Under-graduate, Graduate and Postgraduate levels of different disciplines like Management, Social Work, Sociology, Mass Media, Economics, Engineering, Law, Commerce, Psychology and Life Sciences, participated in the competition. The competition was a platform to express one’s opinions about issues of social relevance pertaining to children and youth. Three such relevant topics were chosen for the competition: ‘Scope of alternative family care for children without families’, ‘India’s youth and my response to the call of Mahatma Gandhi to Be the Change I want to see in the World’ and ‘What I would do to promote the cause of children and their rights, if I was Prime Minister for a day’.

The essays were judged by a panel of three external judges on the basis of Originality of Content, Creativity, Clarity of Expression, Adherence to Theme, and Writing Style. This year’s competition reflected fresh ideas and thoughts, and the opinions and convictions of today’s youth. The first prize was awarded to Diksha Garg of St. Joseph’s College of Law, Bengaluru. The second prize was awarded to Sujan Ganesh of Crescent School of Law, Chennai and the third place was secured by Nicole Mary Swer of School of Life Sciences, Manipal.
