The outreach team working in the Gandhi Nagar area organized a meeting of the Caring Community Group (CCG) at BOSCO Yuvodaya on February 15, 2025. The focus of the meeting was to strengthen the CCG. Key speakers included Mr. Basavaraju K. M., Coordinator of the Gandhi Nagar Area; Fr. Varghese Pallipuram, Executive Director of BOSCO Bengaluru; and Fr. Johnson, Project Director. They provided information about BOSCO’s activities, child protection mechanisms, and practical guidance on safeguarding children from harm. They also appreciated the support and collaboration of the CCG members in creating a ‘Child-Safe Environment’ in the area. CCG members shared their personal challenges and experiences related to protecting child rights. The meeting resolved to form a Child Safety Community Force, comprising individuals from various sectors, to establish a child-friendly setting in the Gandhi Nagar area. Participants agreed to create a WhatsApp group for easier communication regarding any issues concerning the vulnerability of children. Many attendees expressed their willingness to join rescue operations whenever necessary. Rajeshwari Vahini Press volunteered to publish any positive actions taken toward establishing and strengthening child rights. Additionally, the meeting decided to extend child rights initiatives to neighboring areas by including more reputable individuals in the Child Safety Community Force, always in collaboration with government officials and BOSCO. A total of twenty-one participants including Mr. Hemanth, CWC Member; Mr. Mallikarjun, Social Worker; Mr. Dillibabu, Editor; BBMP Supervisor and staff; the Head Nurse of the PHC in Gandhi Nagar; social workers; shop owners; ASHA workers; and other community members were a part of the meeting.
