Foster Parents and Children’s meeting was organized by BOSCO Foster Care Programme at BOSCO Yuvodaya, Bengaluru on February 27, 2021. Mr. Shivamallu, Coordinator, BOSCO Foster Care Programme started the session by briefing about the purpose of the meeting. Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO said, “It is wonderful that we are all together as a foster family. Family spirit and family feeling is something that we promote to look after the children. I thank for every foster parent who have looked after the children as their own children. Now we are taking forward Foster Care Programme to ten districts.” Fr. Varghese Pallipuram, Director, Foster Care Programme said, “To lead a happy family life we should have mutual respect for each other, give time for each other, encourage each other and show love and care for each other, especially children.”
Ms. Meena Jain, Former Chairperson, CWC – 1 and 2 started the session with how to take care of foster children. She said that the family members should welcome the child with open arms, accept the child, show love, trust the child and motivate him/her to become independent in life.
Some of the Foster parents and children shared their experiences of fostering children and being in a foster family respectively. Mr. Chandrappa, Foster Parent, thanked BOSCO for helping foster a child through Child Welfare Committee. Mr. Ramaswamy, Outreach Officer, BOSCO Foster Care Programme welcomed the participants and Mr. Obalesh, Social Mobilizer, BOSCO Foster Care Programme proposed vote of the thanks. Forty parents, children and staff attended the meeting.
