Grand Finale of Children’s Cultural Fest

BOSCO Bengaluru organized the Grand Finale of the Children’s Cultural Fest on the theme, ‘God Loving Persons and Honest Citizens’, at BOSCO Mane, Chamrajpet, Bengaluru on February 2nd, 2020,

Inaugurating the programme, Ms. Sushma Godbole, IAS, Director, Mass Education, Karnataka, exhorted children to be in the company of good friends, give back what the society has given to them. She said, “Don Bosco is like a light house, beacon of life. You can show your love to him by being loving persons and honest citizens”. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Nagaratna, District Child Protection Officer, Bengaluru, said, “If not for BOSCO we would have seen Bengaluru streets flooded with children. We should thank BOSCO for their yeoman services”. Rev. Fr. John Bhaskaran, Rector, PIME Major Seminary, Pune, said, “You are not here by accident but by the choice of God. Become one like him”. Ms. Kavitha, Social Worker, Special Juvenile Police Unit, BOSCO welcomed the gathering and KM Basavaraj, Social Worker, Railway CHILDLINE, BOSCO proposed the vote of thanks.

In the Valedictory Function, Ms. Anu Prabhakar, Film Actress, South India, said that education is an asset that nobody can take away. She pleaded the children to study well, respect elders and make optimum use of the services provided by BOSCO. Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO Bengaluru, said, “You can show your love to Don Bosco by believing in God and becoming honest and upright citizens”. Danny, Film Actor, South India asked the children to make education and prayers to God as their main goals in life. He enthralled the gathering with his dance moves. Fr. Joyce Thonikuzhiyil, Provincial, Bengaluru Province, in the presidential address, said, “Place of Don Bosco means a home where we feel secure, a school where we can learn, a playground where we can play and enjoy and a place of prayer where we find peace and happiness”.

The winners of the month-long celebration that included quiz competition, children’s sports day, past pupils’ day, annual national level college essay competition, inter-centre cultural competition etc., were awarded during the function. Shivamallu, Coordinator, BOSCO Foster Care Programme, welcomed the gathering and PN Basavaraj, Coordinator, BOSCO SJPU Porgramme, gave the vote of thanks. Around five hundred children, friends and well-wishers of BOSCO gathered at BOSCO Mane, Chamrajpet, Bengaluru, on the occasion.
