BOSCO Bengaluru, organized an awareness campaign on account of Indian Independence Day on the 14th of August at the gates of Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Bengaluru, on the theme “FREEDOM TO BE CHILDREN”.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Chandan Kale, PSI, Jayanagar Police Station, Bengaluru, stressed that it is the responsibility of the society to make sure that children grow up in freedom to be good citizens. Shri Nanjegowda, Tilaknagar, Police Station, Bengaluru exhorted the public to report cases of child labour, child marriage, child abuse, child trafficking, etc. Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO Bengaluru, expressed that this campaign has the important objective of motivating the society to care for children and to protect them. “In an independent India our children must live their childhood in freedom”, he added. Shri. Nadaf, PSI, Siddhapur Police Station, Bengaluru, spoke about child rights, child related laws and policies and the need for well implemented child protection mechanisms.
Girls from BOSCO centers performed a dance on the theme of FREEDOM TO BE CHILDREN at the four gates of Lalbagh garden on August 14, 2019. The purpose of the awareness was to make people understand that children need freedom to study, to play and to live their childhood. Children need freedom from child labour, child marriage and various forms of abuses. The awareness program on behalf of children and childhood concluded with a signature campaign in which people pledged to ensure freedom to children to study, play and enjoy their childhood. Handbills were distributed to around thousand public gathered.
