International Human Rights Day

On the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, BOSCO Bengaluru, organized various activities in its centres. Human rights awareness programme was organized at Government High School, Vajarahalli, Talaghatapura, Bengaluru on December 10, 2019. In his keynote address Fr. Prasad, Director, CHILDLINE Collab, BOSCO, Bengaluru described about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), and said that everyone should join hands to prevent violation of human rights. Everyone should take steps to uphold and promote the rights of all human beings. Mr. Gopal Krishna, ASI, Talaghatapura Police Station was also present. Over two hundred children and six teachers participated in the awareness programme.
Special Juvenile Police Unit, BOSCO Bengaluru, organized community awareness in Hosa Guddadahalli, Bengaluru on December 6, 2019. Mr. Basavaraju, Coordinator, SJPU, BOSCO Bengaluru, addressed the gathering and explained about Child Rights and Human Rights. Mr. Premaraj, Head Constable, JJR Police Station, was present on the occasion. Over hundred twenty-five children participated in this programme.
Nilaya, BOSCO Bengaluru, organized Human Rights Day celebration at the centre on December 10, 2019. Mr. Waseem, Coordinatorand Ms. Pushpalatha, Social Activists, Nilaya, BOSCO, Bengaluru, spoke about UNO, empowered children about Human Rights and acts. A few incidents of Human Rights Violations were shared. Children were motivated to restore Human rights and help others in difficulty as much as possible. A drawing competition was organized for the children. Twenty-five children from 10 tuition centres and two staff and tuition teachers participated.
BOSCO Yuvakendra celebrated the International Human Rights Day with the youth residing at the centre. Geethamala, Counselor, BOSCO Yuvakendra and Member, CWC 3, Bengaluru Urban and Veeresh KM, Coordinator, BOSOC Yuvakendra briefed about the importance of the day and explained about human rights and the importance of protecting and promoting human rights. The youth and staff took oath on protecting human rights. A drawing competition on the theme was organized. Eighteen youth participated in the celebration.
BOSCO Mane organized an orientation programme on the occasion of Human Rights Day for the inmates on December 10, 2019. Students from St. Joseph’s College and Bharathi, Coordinator, BOSCO Mane spoke human rights and related acts. Around thirty children attended the orientation.
BOSCO Vikas had an interactive session with the children at the centre on December 10, 2019. Papaiah, Coordinator, BOSCO Vikas explained the leaflet on Human Rights Day to the children. The children were later divided into four groups and were asked to do a painting on the theme. Forty-three boys participated in the session.
BOSCO Nivas organized an orientation on Human Rights Day on December 9, 2019 at the respective tuition centres in Mackan Compound, Nehrupuram, Ambedkar huts and Nivas. Over hundred and fifty children were part of the orientation. An essay competition was held for the children at the centre on December 10, 2019. Twenty children from four tuition centres took part in the essay competition.
Painting competition was organized for the youth residing in BOSCO Sumanahalli as part of Human Rights Day. Fr. Prasad, SDB, Director, BOSCO Sumanahalli, spoke about the importance of the day and the importance of protecting human rights. Twenty-five youth participated in the painting competition.
BOSCO Vatsalya Bhavan and Rainbow Home conducted Human Rights Day through awareness programmes regarding human rights and the importance of standing up for their own rights and the rights of others at their respective centres on December 10, 2019. On the occasion, quiz, essay and drawing competitions were organized for sixty-five children of Vastalya Bhavan and fifty-six children of Rainbow Home.
