Life Skill on Executive Functioning Skills

The inmates of BOSCO Rainbow Home were engage in a life skill session on ‘Executive Functioning’ to instill in them the ability to exercise self-control, follow multi-step instructions even when they get interrupted, and concentrate in the face of distractions. The session aimed at developing in them a group of abilities used in arranging, starting, finishing, and controlling activity. Sr. Mary Shamala, Counselor, BOSCO Rainbow Home,

instructed children on the twelve executive functioning abilities – Self-control, working memory, emotion regulation, attention, task initiation, planning and prioritization, organization, time management, goal-setting and achievement, flexibility, observation, and stress tolerance.

Through engaging in games related to the subject, children discovered the importance of being attentive, observant, patient, tolerant, remembering, and trustworthy. Twenty-nine girls participated in the session.
