On April 11, 2025, Mr. Varadraj, Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the District Legal Service Authority, Bengaluru Urban visited BOSCO Yuvodaya. During his visit, he interacted with the children at the open shelter, as well as the staff and management. Mr. Varadraj explained the structure and functions of the National Legal Service Authority, which is led by the Chief Justice of India, along with the State Legal Service Authority, headed by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of the State. He highlighted the main activities of the District Legal Service Authority, which include providing free legal aid and services to economically disadvantaged and marginalized individuals, conducting lok adalats, and promoting legal literacy. He also emphasized that the district unit aims to provide financial assistance to school dropouts and ensure their re-enrolment in schools.
Mr. Varadaraj requested the support of BOSCO in offering legal education to the public and communities, as well as in assisting with the re-enrolment of school dropouts. Additionally, he addressed the staff’s queries regarding the legal aspects involved in child rescues. He shared a helpline number-15100 for assistance and praised BOSCO for its commendable services to children in need of care, protection, and support.
