BOSCO Vikas organized summer camp for its inmates from May 2 to May 22, 2019 at Don Bosco Vidyakshetra, Prakashpalya. Fr. KD Varghese, Rector, Don Bosco Prakashpalaya and Fr. Michael, Administrator, were present for the inaugural function. Fr. John Paul, Dean of studies, spoke about the importance of the camp and the rules to be followed during the camp.
Morning exercises, classes on Mathematics, Science, English, Kannada and Hindi were conducted on a routine basis every day. Children played indoor and outdoor game during the afternoon times. Team games like football, volley ball, cricket were regularly played. The camp included sessions on life skills, moral education, environment, etc. Children were involved in activities such as singing, dancing, clay modelling, crafts, and skits. Children enjoyed playing treasure hunt. On Sundays children were taken to nearby temples, Gaganachukki, Talakdu, Malai Mahadeshwara Hill and Hogenikkal Falls for outing. Late evenings they were allowed to watch movies. Some of the selected children were giving a chance for fishing while the other children were asked to prepare a house tree based on their experience of the camp. Competitions were held regularly for dance, singing, football, cricket and volley ball.
During the camp Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO, Bengaluru and Fr. John MA, Administrator, BOSCO, Bengaluru visited the children and cheered them up with their inspiring thoughts and words. The sessions were taken by the teachers of the centre with the support of Papaiah, Coordinator, BOSCO Vikas, Babu, Asst. Coordinator, BOSCO Vikas, Br. Albin, Br. Subin and Br. Vimal. Fifty-two children participated in the camp.
