Summer Camp Organized

BOSCO Nilaya organized Summer Camp from April 11 to 16, 2019 at BOSCO Nilaya. Mr. Nijalingappa, PSI, Mr. Kariyanna and Mr. M.H. Nadaf, Police Cottonpet Police Station, Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO, Bengaluru Child representatives from Tuition centers and Master Dhananjay, CRC Federation Leader and Mr. Ramaswamy, Coordinator, CREAM inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.
Children were taught action songs, finger print art, making puppets, crafts, morals, values, good qualities in life, leadership, through stories, using the writing board, puzzles, word building, etc.
Mr. Arul Das Vijaya, Freelance Artist, Janabimba Organization, facilitated the session on Child Rights Violation. Mr. Rajesh, President, Bharatiya Jain Sanghatara Organization, Chikkamangaluru, facilitated a session on Self-awareness, goal setting and adolescence, gender equity for Adolescent girls. Ms. Sudha, Yoga Teacher facilitated a session on Yoga. Slokas and different types of Asanas were taught. Children performed yoga asanas. Ms. Prameela, Hasirudhala NGO facilitated session on Waste Management. Disadvantages of Plastic, types of waste, importance of bifurcating waste and recycling of waste were briefed.
Mr. Ramaswamy, Project Coordinator, CREAM, BOSCO facilitated a session on Child Protection Mechanisms and Sustainable Development Goals and Advocacy actions. Health awareness and eye camp were conducted in collaboration with BOSCO Health department, St. Martha’s Hospital and Gift of Sight NGO. A skit on disadvantages of mobile, Selfie, Junk food and importance of nutritious food was enacted. Steps to wash hands were demonstrated. Craft session was facilitated by Dr. Joshy, Principal, Don Bosco B. Ed College, Yadgiri. Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shale Kasaragod movie was screened. BOSCO Nilaya Karate students performed a Karate demo in the presence of Mr. Marlingappa and Mr.Lingappa, Karate instructors. Party games were conducted. Mr. Narayan and Mr. Pranesh Kumar, PSI, Traffic Police, Chickpet Division, facilitated session on Traffic Rules and regulations.
The Valedictory programme saw the presence of Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO Bangalore, Master Shivagashi and Ms. Shalini, Child Representatives. Fr. Regi Jacob thanked all the persons who worked for the success of the camp. Fr. Mathew Thomas, addressing the gathering, appreciated the Nilaya team for organizing the camp successfully.
Seventy-seven boys and seventy girls from nine communities such as Vyayamshaale, Vinobhanagar, Cement Huts, Ramanna Garden, BOSCO Nilaya, Rajgopal Garden, Giripuram, Anandhpuram Tuition Center participated. Two clerics, seven Tuition Teachers, four Foreign Volunteers were also part of the program.
