Bengaluru Railway CHILDLINE (BRCL), conducted a survey on runaway children being found in Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station from April 24 to 26, 2019. The survey was conducted at all the platforms of the railway station in three shifts (6.00AM to 2.00PM, 12.00PM to 8.00PM and 8.00 PM to 6.00 AM) to identify the average count of runaway children. Twenty-one children (nineteen boys and two girls) were rescued during the survey. The children rescued belonged to Karnataka, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa. As per the survey, most of the children had come to the city in search of jobs. Another reason for running away from home was the attraction towards the city. Eighteen staff and nine student volunteers were involved in conducting the survey.
