Sustainable Development Goals Global Week

CREAM, BOSCO, Bengaluru organized Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Global week awareness program on various themes like Climate, Voice, Equality, at Cubbon Park, BBMP Telugu and Kannada Medium School, Timmaiah Road, Shivajinagar, GHS and GHPS, Sunkenahalli, Anganwadi Centre, Jolly Mohalla, KP Agrahara and Mackan Compound areas of Bengaluru from September 23 to 26, 2019.
BOSCO Nivas organized an awareness campaign at Cubbon Park educating the general public on the climate crisis and the need to plant more trees. A group of BBMP sweepers were given awareness about the campaign with the permission of Mr. Ramesh, Manager, BBMP sweepers.
Under the theme ‘Voice’, team Nivas planned to address children about raising their voice for their rights and against inequality and discrimination at BBMP Telugu and Kannada School. Team Nilaya organized tree hugging and awareness rally at GHS and GHPS, Sunkenahalli. Mr. Ramaswamy gave orientation on the need of ‘saving tree’ and Chipko Movement. Headmasters emphasized on the importance of saving trees and appreciated BOSCO for empowering students. Children hugged trees around the streets of the school in Sunkenahalli.
BOSCO CREAM team organized People’s Assembly on Equality. Mothers were guided to establish gender equality at homes by teaching their children. Dr. Tejashwini, Government Hospital, Sirsi Circle appreciated BOSCO for taking various initiatives in empowering women and guiding children. Spoorthi Club members. Dr. Mani, President, Dr. Thyagarajan, Assistant Surgeon, UFWEC-Maternity Home, Mr. Harsha, Social worker, Mr. Surendra, Club Incharge Teacher, Sri Siddalingeshwara School also participated in the People’s Assembly.
As part of the sustainable development goals, a Candle Light March was organized on September 26, 2019 with children from Mackan Compound and Nehrupuram displaying slogans on protection of environment, adverse climatic changes, children’s rights and other issues of children. Around 600 people were given awareness.
