Bengaluru, in collaboration with BREADS organized two-day training on Child Protection Policy for the child protection committee members of various Child Care centers of the organization, at BOSCO Yuvodaya on July 22 and 23, 2019. Ms. Edwina Pereira, Freelance Trainer, conducted sessions on the functioning of the CPC, roles and responsibilities of the CPC members, types of cases to be handled, proceedings of the CPC, etc. The CPC members were told to maintain a suggestion box/complaint box in each centre for children. The Child Protection Officer will be responsible for organizing and presiding over the meeting of CPC on a monthly basis. The complaints of children and child rights violations occurred during the month would be discussed in the meeting so as to ensure safety and protection of children.
Vivek Dev, HR Manager, BOSCO Bengaluru, welcomed the gathering and Shivamallu, Coordinator, BOSCO Foster Care Programme, proposed the vote of thanks. The training was facilitated by Fr. Varghese Pallipuram, Director, BOSCO Yuvodaya. Fr. Mathew Thomas, Executive Director, BOSCO Bengaluru and Fr. Prasad, SDB, Director, BOSCO CHILDLINE and Sumanahalli were present for the programme. Thirty-four members of eight CPCs and one Central CPC participated in the training.
