On April 15, 2025, Dr. Florian Hermann, the Honorable Minister for Federal Affairs and Head of the State Chancellery of the Free State of Bavaria, Germany, visited BOSCO Vatsalya Bhavan, a Centre for girl children, in Chamrajpet, Bengaluru. He was accompanied by a team of delegates from his government. Under the leadership of Honorable Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder, (who couldn’t be present for the occasion due to ill health and had to return back to the Country), the Bavarian government currently partially supports programs aimed at assisting underprivileged children in need of care and protection in the state of Karnataka. Dr. Florian Hermann was welcomed with a band performance by the children of BOSCO Mane, followed by a traditional dance presented by the children of BOSCO Vatsalya Bhavan, showcasing their talents in music, art and culture though they are from difficult backgrounds.
Addressing the gathering in a crowded hall filled with vibrant children, mostly girls, Dr. Florian Hermann expressed his happiness about being in this centre and described his visit to BOSCO’s girl center as the most meaningful and heartwarming programme of this entire visit of his to various locations. He further added that he would cherish his visit all through his life. He toured the Skill Training unit of the BOSCO Vatsalya Bhavan, which offers Tailoring and Beautician trades designed to equip unskilled individuals, particularly those living in poverty in the slums around City Market and its surroundings, Bengaluru. Another highlight of his visit along with his colleagues was free and spontaneous interaction with the children, who in turn asked him various questions about culture, language, education, shelters for children, and food habits of his state to all of which he responded with a smile.
As a token of gratitude, a painting done by the children was presented to him. In return, he gifted school bags to the children and encouraged all of them to attend school regularly and score highly in all the examinations. Fr. George P.S., Executive Director of BREADS Bengaluru, welcomed the delegates and profusely acknowledged the contribution of Germany and Bavaria State in particular which enabled us to reach to the lost, least and the last. Fr. Varghese Pallipuram, Executive Director of BOSCO Bengaluru, delivered the vote of thanks. The event was attended by all the girl children of the centre, children from BOSCO Mane, staff and directors of BOSCO, as well as the Executive Director and staff of BREADS.
