A native of Bengaluru, 21 year old Kiran Kumar was the only child of his parents. But he never got to experience the love of his parents. He lost his father soon after birth. His mother, unable to take care of him, placed him in a hostel where he studied till class 9. Owing to his disinterest in studies he was sent back home. Though his mother tried her best to re-enroll him in school, it did not work.
A well-wisher suggested that he be placed in BOSCO, and Kiran was given admission in BOSCO Yuvakendra. At Yuvakendra, he was given ample opportunities for development and was motivated to take up training in book binding in Sumanahalli and also to appear for his class 10exams.
Kiran successfully completed his skill training but could not complete his 10th standard, as he was not interested in studies. After repeated counseling, Kiran developed the confidence to leave BOSCO and begin a new life on his own. BOSCO staff spoke to his employer and requested them to help him find a room/accommodation of his own. Recently Kiran moved into his own room and is slowly building his new life one day at time.
