Manjunath P came into contact with BOSCO in the year 2001.He was rescued from the railway station where he was found as a child labourer. He was abandoned by his father at the age of 11, after his mother’s death. Since then he has been staying in his maternal aunt’s house in Srirampura, Bengaluru. A member of St Antony’s Church in Srirampura referred him to BOSCO Mane. When Manjunath expressed his desire to continue his studies, he was sent to Ajjanahalli, where he was enrolled in class 5. After completing class 10, Manjunath returned to Bengaluru, and was sent to BOSCO Yuvakendra. From there he was initially sent for training in Printing and Technology at Rajajinagar, but after completing the course, he soon lost interest in it.
Luckily Manjunath got an opportunity to enroll for an ITI course in Don Bosco Hassan. He successfully completed his ITI Training in AC mechanics, and is presently working as an electrician in a private company in Bannerghatta, Bengaluru. He is thankful to BOSCO for giving him both the financial support and resources needed to get advanced training. Today, at the age of 21, Manjunath is leading a respectful, productive life under the watchful guidance of BOSCO. In the future, he wishes to take up social work to help children in distress.
