BOSCO Railway CHILDLINE organized a week-long campaign on World Day against Trafficking in Persons at KSR Railway Station from July 26 to 30, 2021. The UN member states have designated July 30 as the World Day against Trafficking in Persons to “raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and for the promotion and protection of their rights.” Based on the theme for the year 2021 – ‘Victims’ Voices Lead the Way,’ BOSCO Railway CHILDLINE organized several awareness programmes at KSR Railway station highlighting the importance of listening to and learning from the survivors of human trafficking.
The campaign started with the inauguration at the entrance of the railway station by placing a moveable kiosk and giving awareness to the coolie porters on July 26, 2021. CHILDLINE face masks were distributed to the participants. Thirty-one porters got benefited. On July 28, 2021 awareness program was conducted to RPF officials on platform 5. Fourteen officials got benefited. Awareness was given to the passengers in moving trains from KSR station to Mandya and from Bangarpet to KSR Station on July 29, 2021. Seven hundred and fifty passengers benefited.
During the concluding programme, an awareness rally was organized from the entrance of the KSR Railway station till the exit gate of the station on July 30, 2021. Staff distributed pamphlets to the passengers and commuters on the platforms. Ms. Nagamani, Nodal Coordinator, CRT spoke about the importance of the day and functions of CHILDLINE and sought the support of the public in rescuing children in need of care and protection. Ms. Kusuma Hariprasad, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM), South Western Railways, spoke about the importance of the day and thanked CHILDLINE teams and BOSCO for the work. Ms. Rashmi, Program Manager, CIF welcomed the gathering. Fr. Varghese Pallipuram, Executive Director, BOSCO Bengaluru proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Sourab Jain, Joint General Manager IRSDC, Mr. Srikanth, CMI/ SBC, Mr. Kumara Swamy, Station Master, SBC, Fr. Prasad SDB, Director, CHILDLINE BOSCO, staff members from BOSCO CHILDLINE and Railway CHILDINE, APSA and SATHI were present during the programme.
