Training for Child Welfare Police Officers

Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) Project, BOSCO Bengaluru in collaboration with DCPU South Division organised training for the Child Welfare Police Officers (CWPOs), West and South Division, Bengaluru at B.S Venkataram Kala Bhavana Chamrajpet and Hanumantha Nagar Police Station on July 9 and 11, 2024. Information on SJPU roles and responsibilities, POCSO Act 2012, Juvenile Justice Act 2015 model, procedures in relation to children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, JJ act roles, child rights, missing children, foster care concept, forms and proceedings.

Mr. Naganna Gowda, Chairperson, KSCPCR, Mr. Girish SB, ACP, South Division and Mr. Ramesh K.M, ACP, West Division instructed that CWPOs and Station SO to not talk to the children in uniform. They should not mention the age in the Aadhaar Card, it should only be on Birth/School/ Medical Certificates. CWPOs should not be in uniform during Mahajar’s time. They were appreciative of BOSCO for its committed service to children in distress. Mr. C.J Rohith Police Trainer and Mr. Ramaswamy SJPU Coordinator conducted the training. The programme saw the presence of Ms. Nagaveni, DCPO, South Division, Mr. Anna Rao, PO(IC), Mr. Ganesh, PO (NIC) and DCPU Staff and Ms. Mamatha, ACWPO, South Division and Ms. Girija, ACWPO, West Division. Sixty CWPOs and Assisting Writers from the West Division and sixty-five CWPOs from the South Division attended the training.
