CHILD CARE

It is BOSCO’s primary goal to make the child feel that he/she is worthy and capable of living a better life. BOSCO provides counseling service to the children with the help of professional counselors at different stages of interventions. A counselor tries to shed light on a child’s hidden feelings and emotions, endeavors to change his/her unhealthy and inappropriate attitude, instill self-confidence and self-esteem, prompts the child to come to terms with reality and thus, inspire him/her to make suitable decisions. Therapeutic counseling and referring to specialized centers are carried out from the rehabilitation centers of BOSCO.

Home restoration is a core goal in all our activities. BOSCO Yuvodaya acts as a transit home for around 15 children on a daily basis who are rescued from the various contact points around Bangalore. BOSCO’s main aim is to reunite the children with their parents since it believes that family is the most suitable place for a child to grow up. A lot of motivation and awareness is given to children as well as parents before BOSCO decides to home place a child. Those children, who could not make it back to their homes and families, find their residences in the BOSCO centres for children. At these centres childhood is celebrated and taken care of. They are child friendly places with caring elders, recreation, healthy food, entertainment, picnics, camps, education and good upbringing. Foster care is promoted to give children without families an alternative family care.

For youth aged 18-25, leading them back to mainstream society as economically independent young adults is our ultimate goal. BOSCO helps youngsters in hiring rooms or renting a place along with other boys once they are skill trained and job placed. They are equipped to pay for their accommodation and live on their own. The core idea behind room placement is to prepare the youths for the metamorphosis from a cocooned life of institutionalized care to rooms where they have to manage on their own. BOSCO has a Child Protection Policy in place, to which the personnel of BOSCO adhere.
