SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Vocational training coupled with non-formal education is provided to children above 14 years who find it difficult to get back to mainstream formal education. BOSCO runs its own skill training centre for boys at BOSCO Sumanahalli. It is equipped with the latest machines and qualified and experienced staff to promote work culture in the youth and  to reintegrate them into the mainstream society. This centre trains them in six trades: carpentry, electrical, two wheeler mechanics, bakery, computer and welding. Apart from the above mentioned trades,  tailoring units are functioning at Nivas and Vatsalya Bhavan and a beautician course at Vatsalya Bhavan.

Many children and youth come to the city in search of jobs. Youth who have undergone skill based training at various vocational skill training centers of BOSCO are placed for employment as welders, carpenters, computer data entry persons, electricians, mechanics, screen printers, bakers, beauticians, tailors, sales persons etc. BOSCO is in contact with a number of employers who understand the situation and background of these youths and are ready to extend cooperation and offer them jobs.
