Crime Prevention Awareness Programme at DJ Halli

The Juvenile Advocacy team organized a programme to create awareness among parents and children about juvenile offences, their consequences, the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of parental responsibility in preventing children from coming into conflict with the law at DJ Halli on April 18, 2026 in collaboration with BOSCO Nivas Team.

The programme was conducted in response to the higher incidence of juvenile-related cases reported in the D.J. Halli Police Station limits, identifying the area as crime-prone. The initiative aimed to address these concerns through preventive awareness, early intervention and community sensitization.

Mr Sudheendra B.C, Advocate and Mrs Manjula V Panel Advocate, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) shed light on types of crimes involving juveniles and their impacts; drug abuse and its harmful consequences; legal implications of juvenile offenses; importance of parental supervision and responsibility; awareness on early identification of risky behaviours; importance of communication between parents and children; community responsibility in preventing juvenile delinquency

Parents discussed challenges in monitoring children’s behaviour. This programme helped in strengthening community awareness and in building trust between stakeholders, which is essential for preventing juvenile offenses. It also promoted proactive parenting and informed decision-making, contributing to long-term impact in reducing juvenile delinquency. Fr. Joseph Dandavathi and Nivas ream were present in the programme. Thirty parents and thirty-eight children participated in this programme.
