The BOSCO CSN Project organized a training programme for the leaders of the Child Rights Clubs (CRCs) at BOSCO Yuvodaya on May 27, 2026. Fr. Varghese Pallipuram, Executive Director of BOSCO Bengaluru, delivered the introductory address, highlighting the importance of child protection, the various child protection mechanisms available, and the role of CRC leaders in safeguarding children’s rights.
The chief guest, Mr. Rajendraprasad, PSI, VV Puram Police Station, conducted a session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, child marriage, child labour, and the role of the police in ensuring the safety and protection of children. Mr. Manjunath, PSI, Market Traffic Police Station, emphasized the significance of education and regular school attendance in shaping a child’s future.
Mr. Ramaswamy, Coordinator of BOSCO Yuvodaya, spoke on child rights and the qualities and responsibilities of effective CRC leaders. Mr. Shivamallu, State Coordinator of the Foster Care Programme, facilitated a session on important child-related laws. In the concluding session, Fr. Johnson discussed the way forward for the Child Rights Clubs and motivated the participants through practical examples, encouraging them to become active advocates for children’s rights within their communities.
Following the training, the participants undertook an exposure visit to VV Puram Police Station through a rally. During the visit, police officials provided an overview of the police station’s organizational structure, demonstrated the equipment and resources used in crime prevention, and explained the procedures followed in cases involving children in conflict with the law. A total of 40 CRC leaders, comprising 20 boys and 20 girls from the community Child Rights Clubs, participated in the programme and benefited from the training and exposure visit.
